I read this book last year over the course of a week, in a doctor's waiting room while pregnant with my son and later on the couch here and there relaxing between getting the house baby ready. On one hand, this collection of three stories is great for exactly what I used it for: to inject a delicious little bit of flavour into a short amounts of time. A good distraction.
On the other hand, one, maybe two, of the stories suffers from that paradox that plagues many short stories: it would be better as a much, much longer story. But I really like short stories and might not have the time to invest in a novel, so would it really be better longer?
Ok, details. The first story is a good sci fi romp. It's a satisfying read, and feels like it keeps its own with most modern romance/sci fi flicks. I feel like it would be great as a longer story, but it's still really good as a short.
The second story has a classic native tale feel to it. It's written sparsely in a charming way and was my favorite. It's the sort of short story that feels just the right length and still packs an emotional punch and a bit to think about.
The third story... it was my favorite concept of the three and I really liked the descriptions in it. There was a line where the main character, a witch in training, describes flying as being a ray of light, and bits like that are great. But it was also my least favorite and it deserves a lower star rating because it's a short story. The author hints of some great history and backstory, and there's not much set up for a big reveal that, if this story was a novel, could have had a fantastic emotional kick. I want to see this witch meet her frog cat. (Yep, you read that right.) I want to see those she knew in her old life. I want to see her motherly relationship with her maid build slowly.
I want the author to turn the final story into the novel I can tell it's meant to be.
So that's my take. A good choice overall for the bus, lunch breaks, by the pool, or doctor's appointments.

Dream Time and Other Flights of Fantasy a collection of three short stories eBook Lenora RainLee Good Reviews
Take a trip into unknown worlds with this compilation of short stories by local Washington author Lenora Rain-Lee Good. In this collection, her first offering not explicitly geared toward a Young Adult audience, Good offers readers the chance to immerse themselves in strange new worlds. Each story features a different female character who must navigate across foreign worlds and cultures.
In the opening story, “Dream Time,” a woman who has trouble sleeping discovers that she has not one family, but two—and she must choose between them. “Fly Away Woman” features a Wild Woman who is content in her solitude until she unexpectedly discovers an orphaned child. In the concluding story, “The Education of Ta Lin,” an inexperienced mageling struggles to control her untamed magical abilities and earn her place, at the risk of great personal cost.
This brief collection (around 30 pages) is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a delicious little excursion in the small moments one has to oneself, and it’s a wonderful introduction to an exceptional local author.

Very well written stories that leave you wanting more. I have known the author for many years and always knew she was a writer. Love the imagery.
A treat of a little book.
For one thing, I'm not really a fan often of short stories or fantasy. But reading Ms. Good's three "Flights of Fantasy, was worth my varying my usual reading routes. To my surprise, when I finished reading the second story about the "Fly Away Woman," I was near tears--a real indicator that I was "in the story." Lovely piece. Go places *you* don't normally go by taking a short trip with Ms. Good.
